The kinder way of saying “don’t support genAI garbage”, which, if my heart was the one talking, would be a sentence with a lot more expletives in it.
Art is such a wonderful, beautiful experience. In making it, in taking it in. Creation is the closest thing to personal divinity, it’s how we share our voice, how we often find it in the first place, how we can discover and build ourselves, how we give ourselves to the world to love and be loved in return. That feeling of being so completely understood by something without it ever having to know you, because it’s reaching out and speaking to your soul.
AI can’t give you that, it can’t move or transform you the way art and poetry and music and movies and books and comics will stick into your heart and be the trellis you grow from. It won’t empower you the way the pride of your efforts will inspire you to explore them deeper. It won’t comfort you the way familiar work or a familiar artist will, catching sight of them after years, momentarily transported through all of time and space to when they were new in your heart.
AI can’t see you. AI can’t feed you. AI can’t love you.
Stop letting it into your life, stop letting it into your art. Just because it’s everywhere, and everything is trying to convince you to give up the things you’ve always had so they can chew it up and spit it back into your mouth, doesn’t mean you need to open wide for it.
It’s not easier, it’s not a time saver, it’s not the future.
It’s an environmental evil, it’s poison for the soul, it’s crushing the human experience. And it does not have to be here to stay.
So please, starve AI, feed your soul
